9/11: 8 years later

On this day at this time in 2001, the world was in awe. The Twin World Trade Center had just been bombed by terrorists. The idea for the September 11 plot came from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who first presented the idea to Osama bin Laden in 1996. Early in the morning on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, nineteen hijackers took control of four commercial airliners en route to San Francisco and Los Angeles from Boston, Newark, and Washington, D.C. (Washington Dulles International Airport). At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 was crashed into the World Trade Center's North Tower, followed by United Airlines Flight 175 which hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m.Another group of hijackers flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. A fourth flight, United Airlines Flight 93, whose ultimate target was thought to be either the United States Capitol or White House, crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03 a.m, after the passengers on board engaged in a fight with the hijackers.he south tower (2 WTC) fell at approximately 9:59 a.m., after burning for 56 minutes in a fire caused by the impact of United Airlines Flight 175. The north tower (1 WTC) collapsed at 10:28 a.m., after burning for approximately 102 minutes. When the north tower collapsed, debris heavily damaged the nearby 7 World Trade Center (7 WTC) building. Its structural integrity was further compromised by fires, and the building collapsed later in the day at 5:20 p.m.
n addition to the 110-floor Twin Towers of the World Trade Center itself, numerous other buildings at the World Trade Center site were destroyed or badly damaged, including 7 World Trade Center, 6 World Trade Center, 5 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center, the Marriott World Trade Center (3 WTC), and the World Financial Center complex and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The New York City Fire Department dispatched 200 units to the location. The 9/11 incident is one of the U.S.A.'s biggest tragedies. So many people lost family members. It affected the U.S. forever. Although it has been 8 years since the terrible tragedy, everyone remembers that day clearly. Everyone remember what they were doing. I was in 2nd grade and it happened right before we were suppose to go to P.E. We couldnt go to P.E. though because the school was on lockdown. When I got home, I asked my mom what the fuss was all about. She said the World Trade Center had been bombed. I didnt know what the WTC was. My grandma and her was watching CNN and I saw what happened and how it happened. I was in shock. All those people were dead. It was a somber day. The next day at school, my teacher explained what had happened. Although I was young, I still felt sad about the situation. Innocent people had died because of nonsense. For like 6 months or so..CNN covered the story and gave updates. I watched the news everyday I came home from school. I wanted to know what was gonna be done next. The 9/11 attack changed the world forever. In reality, the United States will NEVER be the same. President Bush definitely didnt handle it right. Thanks to him, the United States had to lose more Americans because of the War in Iraq. I wish he would have had more sense and handled the situation correctly. It's all so sad. Every 9/11, I take a moment of silence to remember the 3,017 people who died and their families. Let's continue to do that. 9/11 should be a reserved holiday. Maybe one day. But until then, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
